StepOver, as a pioneer in the field of technology, has always enlisted independent organisations to verify the security of its products. In 2004, this prompted researchers at the University of Magdeburg to scrutinise our plug&sign software solution, eSignatureOffice, alongside the signature pad developed by StepOver - the first test of its kind. In 2005, as part of a competition for a contract with ERGO-Versichrung (at the time, Hamburg-Mannheimer), the University of Leipzing evaluated the security of every signature solution on the market (including eSignatureOffice and the StepOver signature tablet). Based on the results and a variety of other aspects, ERGO-Versicherung went on to choose StepOver. During the course of 2007, another insurance company, Allianz Versicherung, carried out extensive research into product security. Once again, StepOver emerged as the clear favourite. Between 2007 and 2008, more than 30,000 devices were delivered to Allianz Versicherung. Since 2010, StepOver has been subjected to a yearly, rigorous security evaluation carried out by tekitConsult Bonn GmbH, a subsidiary of TÜV (German Technical Inspection Association). At the security check of the StepOver signature solution the StepOver signature pads are being checked very intensive. This is because of the unique security concept of the signature pads, which runs all security relevant functions directly on the signpad itself (not at the unsecure environment of a Computer).
"The security of the signature solution can only be examined as a whole, because, as we all know, a system is only as safe as its weakest part", claims Olaf Staudt, Commercial Director, on StepOver's security concept.
